    POSTSCRIPT. HAVING received feveral letters containing the mofl illiberal abufe, in confequence of the publication of the preced¬ ing pages, fome of which I have reafon to fup- pofe were written by Counfellor Brand’s * Surgeon of Character ; I think it neceffary to declare, that I never intended, nor, indeed, could I form an idea, that the Treatife in queftion fhould give the fmalleft offence to any Gentle¬ man of the Faculty. My foie objeCt was-—the relief of my fellow-creatures, and the induc¬ tion of the ignorant in that which it is necef¬ fary they fhould know,——Befides improv¬ ing their practice, I have a right to the thanks of the Faculty, for pointing out the moft ef¬ ficacious cure of a Malady, from which they are by no means exempt—and which the moft eminent of them have had no little trouble %o remove.--And I fincerely wifh I could not fay with truth, that numbers have, within thefe few years, loft their lives, after having paid very confiderable fums for pretended affif- tance, and ineffectual advice.
