That the watercourse may have been infected many rniies upstream. d. That owing to the long life of the ova and the tapeworm in its early stages, the spread can be considerable aiul may go on for years. 4. Owing to the loss of infested meat as food and to limit the spread of the infection, any cases of persons found suffering from tapeworm should be reported immedi¬ ately to the Local Authority to enable appropriate steps to be taken. 1). Milk Supply. The following Acts came into ojicration on October 1st;— Milk (Special Ifesignationsj Act, f'J4b. (Ministry of hood). The Milk (Special Jfesignation) (Haw Milk) Hegulations, HMU. (Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Hood). The Milk (Special 1 )esignation) (Pasteurised and Sterilised Milk) Hegulations, i94f>. (Ministries of fiealth and Pood). The IMilk and Dairies Hegulations, 194f>. (Ministries of Health, Agriculture and P’ood). The contents of these enactments are brielly as follows ;— Milk {Special Desiynationx) Act, 1949. The Minister may at any time order that an area be “specihed. When such order comes into operation, the use of a special designation shall be obligatory for the purpose of all sales of milk by retail for human consumption (other than catering sales) where the place of sale is within the limits of such area. In certain cii’cumstances the Minister has the power to consent to sales without the spec'al designation. -A-fter the 3Pth September, 1954, the special designation Accredited will be exchuh'd from the designations. The Alinister lias the power to jirovide facilities for the treatment of milk. The County Council, as PMod and Drugs .\uthority, will be responsible for carrying into effect and enforcing the provisions regarding the use of the special designations. 'J'he Milk {Special JJetiiijnatioti) {Bair Milk) Beijalatiann, 1949. The s])ecial designations which can be used, namely Tuberculin Tested and Accredited , are the same as those contained in the Milk (Special Designations) Hegulations, 19Hb - 40. .Ml producers’ licences, whethei’ selling milk by wholesale, retail or both, are granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and 4^'isheries.
