![c y Ship ftruck upon the Sands, where the Sea broke in upon them with fo much Fury, that they were immediately in Danger of being fwallowed up by the raging Waves in the very Ship ; but within two Hours after, the Ship, without any other Help but God’s Providence, got over the Sands, and was carry’d into a narrow Creek un the Coaft of Holland, not far from Hellevoet Sluice, without any other Confiderable Damage, either to the Ship or Men. The Water on the Sands over w hich they part, in the rifidft of a very dark Night, was fo fhallow, that a Ship that was not of half her Bulk, dufft never venture to pafs it in the Day-time,. At Swyre in Dorfetjhire7 hit. Jacob Cole the Miniftei of the Parifh, was twice in Iminent Danger of oeing kill’d by two Great Stones, weighing 150 Pound weight each, one falling juft behind him as he was going out of his Houfe door, and the other brufhing againft his Elbow, as he was fitting by the Fire*fide. At the fame time a Widow Woman and a Smith’s- Wife with a little Child in her Arms, were karce got out the Doors, naked without Shoes or Stockins, when the Houfe fell in. A Stack of Chimneys.belonging to the Dwelling* houfe of Dr. Gideon Harvey in St. Martins Lane, happening to be ftruck down upon the back part of the next Heufe, wherein lived Mr. Robert Richardf an Apothecary* and Capt. Theodore Collier with his Family died in the fame: The Chim¬ ney piercing thro’ at the Roofs and Floors, carried them quite to the Ground : A Foot Man who about a quarter of an Hour before, had re¬ moved himfeif out of the Back Garret into the Fore-garret, happily efcaped all Danger ; Capt. Collier s Child, the Nurfe and her Child, and a Servant Maid which lay in a Room 2 Fair of Stairs, were found fafe in the Kit- chin, except the Capt’s Child, which two Hours after was found unhurt in fome Pieces of the Bed and Curtains, which being fain thro’ two Floors* hung on fome broken Rafters. Another Maid-Servant which lay up one Pair of Stairs in the fame Room with the Captain and his Wife, being ai- fo carryd into the Kitchin without any hurt, and crying for Help for her Mafter and Miftrefs, the laft was in half an Hours time taken out of the Rubbifh, without any other Hurt than a fmall Bruife. Mr. Richards and his Wife with 3 Neighbours, being in the Parlour, run out of Doors up¬ on the hrft Noife ; Mrs. Richards ftaying fomething longer than the reft, to pull her Child of about a Year old, out of the Cradle, the Houfe fell* yet £he efcaped without any further Hurt than a fmall Bruife on her Foot, and the Child was foon after taken out of the Rubbiih, without having received the lead: Harm. In the Parifh of Sf. Mary Cray \n Kenti a Man, his Wife and Child, were juft got out of the Bed, when then the Houfe fell in upon it; And the Minifter of South-efcaped fo narrowly, that his Feet were^ hurt as he was getting out of his Bed.
