Indeed, independently of a wish to leave a record of the state of salubrity of this metropo- lis in the early portion of the nineteenth cen- tury, I am desirous of bringing these Reports before the public in this form, because the facts which they contain appear to me calculated strongly to remove a dangerous and fatal im- and proverbial adages confirmed,—of the salu- brity of cold, and the benefits of braving its in- fluences.
