    PLURALITY OF WORLDS, §c. LETTER I. INTRODUCTORY OBSERVATIONS. He who suffers not Ids faculties to lie torpid, has a chance, whatever be kis employment, of doing good to his fellow crea¬ tures. Dr. Johnson. Dear Sir, It appears surprising to you, that I am not enraptured by the late production of Dr. Chal¬ mers, (1) as you knew that I once found pleasure in the study of astronomy, and some other branches of natural philosophy. Such astonishment, how¬ ever, may cease to operate, when I candidly ex¬ press my sentiments.
