![SANITARY INSPECTOR & CLEANSING JUPLRINTENDENT'E ANNUAL REPORT Mr. Chairman and Councillors, I have pleasure in submitting for consideration my annual report upon the sanitary and cleansing section of the district for the year 194.2c A summary of inspections are as follows No. of inspections for nuisances 460 ” houses 51 cowsheds 235 meat & other foods 202 workshops 12 factories 38 bakehouses 15 Housesand schools disinfected 24 Informal notices served 74 complied with 74 Statutory notices served Nil • w complied with Nil FARMS AND COWSHEDS, One more licence has been granted for the production of accredited milk, which brings the total now to eleven, and 1 tuberculin tested herd in the New Mill and Honley areas. Other cows and cowsheds have had regular inspections and are found to be in a clean and sanitary condition, MEAT INSPECTIONS, The bulk of the meat supply is sent from Huddersfield and distributed locally. All pigs killed on licence are inspected as notified. SANITARY CONVENIENCES. Four Wc0,s have been installed to replacd defective privies for houses in the district, and six additional W.C.s for factories. PUBLIC CLEANSING SERVICE. The four vehicles engaged on scavenging have done very good work although there have been slight delays caused hy the difficulty of replacements of spare parts. All the vehicles have now been working from five to ten years on scavenging, which includes the cleansing of ashpits, privy middens, dustbins, pail closets, together with a certain amount of trade refuse. The approximate amount of refuse disposed of during the last twelve months is as foILcws:- Tons.
