About this work
Description
This programme is an investigation into the variations in cancer treatment around the UK. A quarter of a million people each year are diagnosed with cancer and nearly all will use the NHS, but there are inconsistences between treatment received in different hospitals, different areas of the UK and between different types of cancer, resulting in variations in life expectancy, cancer recurrence and cures. Doctors, researchers and patients argue for the need for specialist surgeons in both district and teaching hospitals.
