S\N’EMM1XG BATHS.—Twenty-one samples of water from the new swimming Baths have been submitted for bacteriological examination ;ni<l iliree samples for chemical analysis. The reports on the chemical ^^n^d^^^is were satisfactory. The bacterial counts were generally high, bm ihese showed some improvement on sam])les taken during the previous year. , SEWERAGE ANT) DRAINAGE.—There were 1,210 inspections in i.-.p.-et of drainage defects and reconstructions during the year. Fifteen Ml w ‘.inks were fitted in dw’elling-houses. RIViiRS POLLUTION, ETC.—Ten visits were made in respect of p,dUnion of water courses, one nuisance w’as reported and abated during U»r year. Cl.OSET ACCOMMODATION.—During the year, a number of con- \rv-.ion> were carried out’ voluntarily by owners of projierty. Thirteen ..( {'> ot fillings (water closet pedestal and cistern) were ]>rovided by the e'orporaiion, free of cost for this p)urpose. Thirteen additional closets ^^-^ie iimtalied in dwelling-houses and 20 at factories; 9 waste water vU'sels, 1 privy closet, and 3 trough closets were replaced with water n Lvscts. STORAGE OT HOUSEHOLD RET'USE.—One l>rivy, three dry ash- jm-,, and three wall-bins were abolished and 25 portable dustbins installed ,’wring the year. ^'ER.M1N DISINTESTATION.—Complaints were received in respect .T ;kKi hou-'e>. and 092 visits were made by Inspectors to inquire into and vv-t'crvi-.e disinfestation.
