![Pilules Smuckeri. G-albanum Jj, sagapenuui £j, soap 5j, rhu- barb 3iss, tartar emetic gr. xvj, liquorice juice 3J. Mix. Pilule Sodje Arseniatis. Er. Wilson. Arseniate of soda gr. ij) dissolve in distilled water q. s., and add p. guaiacum 3ss, oxysulphuret of antimony 9j, mucilage q. s. Mix care- fully, and divide into 24 pills. Dose, 1 pill. Pix Burgundica Pr^eparata. Burgundy pitch; strained as Ammoniacum Prseparatum. Plumbi Suracetatis Liquor Compositus. D. See Liquor Plumbi Diacetatis Dilutus. Populina. Boil the bark of the root of populus tremula in water, evaporate with a gentle heat, and set aside to crystallize. Purify by solution in alcohol, and digestion with animal char- coal ; filter and crystallize. Potass^e Aqua. E. See Liquor Potassae. Potass^e Chromas Flava. The commercial yellow chromate of potash, manufactured on the large scale by heating chromate of iron with pearlash and nitre, may be purified by recrystalliza- tion. Dose, as an emetic, gr. ij—iv to adults; to children, gr. j—iss; as an alterative and expectorant, gr. £ to J. Externally, Jss to Jiss dissolved in f^j of water, to destroy fungus; a weaker solution, 3J to f^xxxij, as an antiseptic, to living and dead parts. [Dr. Pereira.] Potasses Ferro-prussias. See Potassii Ferro-cyanidum. Potass^e et Ure^e Ferro-cyanidum. M. Baup has not made known his method of preparing this compound, which he states to be efficacious in intermittent fevers. But it contains from 72-2 to 77*8 per cent, of ferro-cyanide of potassium, 10-2 to 13-1 of urea, and 12-2 to 9-6 of water. It is mixed with honey, and divided into 3-grain pills, of which 10, 15, or 20 are given daily. PoTASSiE Hypoohloris. See Liquor Potassae Chlorinatae. Potassje Iodas. Fuse iodide of potassium in a capacious cruci- ble, and gradually add to the fused salt, after removing it from the fire, 1| part of chlorate of potash. Wash the mass with warm water, which leaves the iodate undissolved. Potassae Nitras Purum. D.
