Other conditions . 97 In addition to the notifications of sending for medical help, the following notifications were received from midwives ;— Stillbirths . . 222 Death of mother . . 16 Death of child 143 Artificial feeding . . 268 Laying out the dead .. .. . . 35 Liability to be a source of infection . . . 100 With regard to the 128 cases in which medical help was re- quisitioned on account of rise of temperature, 34 were subsequently notified as puerperal pyrexia. 16 of these cases received in-patient hospital treatment under the County Scheme, while the service:^ of consultants were utilised in 1 case. Of the 131 cases of inflammation of the eyes, 34 were notified as ophthalmia neonatorum and 16 received hospital treatment.
