Section ... ... 165 507 The work of this department continued to increase as supplies of materials improved. Rug making, bookbinding and other work was started in the admission, convalescent and sick wards of the Male Hospital. Unfortunately Miss Croggan resigned at the end of the year, but the work in the Female Hospital has continued under the supervision of Miss Burrage. A male Occupational worker is now engaged in the Male Hospital, and works in the room formerly used as a staff dining-room. It is hoped to increase the accommodation for this work by con¬ verting the unused Gas Chamber. A special Occupational Worker in leather is engaged in the Female Hospital and recently an Occupational and Recreational Worker has been engaged to give further assistance in handicraft work and to organise social and recreational activities. Arising out of the Red Cross Picture Scheme a weekly session is held by Mr. Alec Cotman in which pictures are discussed and patients encouraged to draw and paint in water colours. The weekly cinema show is still the regular entertainment, and has been improved by the new Western Electric installation with dual projectors. In addition, there has been a concert in most of the autumn and winter months. The usual motor-coach trips were run in August and September, and the outings were enjoyed by some three hundred patients. A number of male patients regularly visit the Football matches in Norwich.
