BY the preceding Difcourfe the prin¬ cipal Views of the ignorant and illi¬ terate Praditioners in Chemiftry and Phy- fic are fufficientlv delineated;and as it has been demonftrated, that this Band of En- thufiafts do a&ually compound, retail, and pradife with fophifticated Medicines ; it now becomes a neceffary and incumbent Duty, to propofe a Method, whereby this fpreading Calamity may be redrefled. It has been confidered, that the Petition to Parliament, by the Company of Apothe¬ caries, was founded on finifter, ambitious Views, and that the Welfare of his Maj esty’s Subjects was not fo much regarded, as an additional Increafe of their prefent monftrous Profits: And that this was a fecond Reafon why the Legiflature refufed to acknowledge them as Compe¬ tent Judges, and hence, are no longer to be confidered as fuch by the Public, nor a proper Body to infped the Shops of their Superiors.
