![Si. George's Hofpttai. 1 3¢. _ Lar ointment. Take Barbadoes tar, one ounce; fulphur vivumy three ounces ; flour of brimftone, and yellow waxy each three drachms; oi] of olives as much as is re- quired to give the whole the confiftence of a foft ointment.. This is in mighty efteem for curing feald heads in children... See page 109. Sir Hans Sloane’s opthalmic liniment. Take prepared tutty, one ounce; prepared blood-ftone, two fcruples; aloes, in fine powder, twelve grains ; mix them well together in a marble mortar, with as much prepared viper’s fat as is re quifite to bring the whole to the confiftcnce of a foft ointment. This liniment is to be applied with an hair pencil, the eyes winking or a little opened; it has cured many whofe eyes were covered with opake films, and cicatrices, left by inflammations and ab- fcefles of the cornea. It is to be obferved, that cathartics, efpecially with the addition of mercury, cured by this medicine. Turner's cerate. Take oil of olives, eight pints; bog’s-lard, and yellow wax, each feven pounds; prepared calamine, five pounds and an half; melt the wax and hog’s- lard with the ei] ; and when the mixture begins to congeal, {prinklein the calamine, and ftir the mix~. ture well till i¢ is quit te cold.——-This ointment ig particularly ferviceabie in burns and {ealds. itch ointment.
