About this work
Description
Collection of copies of 'Revela?ions', 'Profecias' and 'Vatecinios' in prose and verse: with other extracts and poems in Portuguese. Many of the prophecies refer to King Sebastian I [1564-1578], and his supposed return to reign again. This was believed by many in Portugal down to the 18th century, who were known as 'Sebastianistas'. Though on fol. 20v it is stated that the nun Leocadia da Comeisa? died in 685, this seems to have been written in error for 1685, as is shown by the reference to Nicolao Monteiro, Bishop of Oporto, who died in 1672. No. 10 Antonio Nu?es is a pseudonym of Victorino Jos? da Costa. No. 22. Following the entry in the B.M. Catalogue. In the 'Enciclopedia Espa?ola', this author is entered as 'Nicolas Factor (Pedro)'.
