![date and place of death, the sox and (as far as is known at the time) the Christian and surname, ago, and last j)lacc of abode of such i>erson, or if no such inspector have been appointed, to the legally qualified Medical Practitioner or Stipendiary .Magistrate residing nearest to the jilaoe to which the body is I'einoved, and shall enter or cause to be entered the aforesaid partioulars relating thereto, and a copy of the certificate he received therewith in a book to be kejit by him ff>r that purpose, and shall prrxluce such book whenever required so to do by any inspector so ajipointal as aforesaid. Anatomical Examinations to he carried on at places Licensed.—It shall not Ijc la'wful for any person to receive or possess for anatomical examination or examine anatomically anybody except at such places as are authorised for that purpose under this Act. IIoio Bodies are to he removed for Examination.—Every body removed for the purpose of examination shall, before such removal, be placed in a decent coffin or shell and be removed therein, and the person causing the same to be removed shall make provision that such body, after undergoing anatomical examination, be decently interred in consecrated ground, or in some public burial ground in u,se for persons of that religious persuasion to which the person whose body was so removed belonged, and that a certificate of the intennentof such body shall be transmitted to thein.spectorof the district within ten weeks after the day on which such body was received. JPost-mortem Examination not Proliihited.—^Nothing in this Act contained shall prohibit any 2^ost-mortc7)i examination of any body required or directed to be made by any competent legal authority, Offeaices.—Any person oifending against the provisions of this Act shall be punished by imprisonment for a term not oxceeding three months, or by a fine not exceeding fifty pounds. REGISTEATION OF DEATHS (1865). (10 Vie., No. 34.) Householder to give Notice of Death.—In each case of the death of any person, the tenant of the house or place shall, within thirty days next thereafter, infoim the District Registrar of such death, and of all particulars required to be registered. (The term “ tenant ” means the householder or principal occuj)ant of any house, building, hut, farm, store, or other establishment in which a death may occur; in squatting districts the lessee or licensed occupant of a run, or his superintendent should give the information.) Penalty.—Every person who shall refuse or neglect to give the required infor- mation shall forfeit a sum not exceeding ten pounds. [N.B.—A Medical Certificate is not Q-equinal.'] ADULTERATION OF FOOD ACT (1879). (42 Vie., No. 14.) Miximg Drugs or Articles with Inj^trious Ingredients.-—Every person who shall for ])urposes of sale mix any ingi’edient or material with any article of food, drug, or drink, or shall colour any such article, so as to rcnder such article injurious to health, or to affect injuriously the quality or jiotency of such drug, or who shall sell any drug or article of food or drink mixed with any such ingrcdicnts or material so coloured, shall for the first offence be liable to a jicnalty not exceeding fifty pounds, and in case of any subsequent offence shall be liable to imi)risonmcnt, with or without hard labour, for a term not exceeding six months. Mixing or Selling Drugs or Articles.—Idivcry person who shall, for purposes of sale, mix any ingiedicnts or material with any drug or article of food or drink, m oixlcr thereby fraudulently to increase its weight, bulk, or mcasiiro, or to conceal its infcruir quality ; or who shall, to the prejudice of the purchaser, sell any drug or article of food or drink mixed with any ingi-cdicnt or material wheroby the weight, bulk, or measure of such drug or article has been increased, or its inferior quality coriccaled, or who shall, to the iirejudicc of the purchaser, sell any drug or article of f(xid or drink which is not of the nature, substance, or quality of the drug or art icle dcmaiutal by such iiurchascr, or any compounded drug, or compound article of foo<l, winch is not composed of ingredients in acconlancc with the demand of the purcharor, shall be liable to a iienalty not exceeding twenty pounds, and for any subsccpieut offence to a jicnalty not exceeding fifty pounds.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b28034272_0024.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
