SOUTH AUSTRALIA. THE MEDICAL ACT (1844 k. 1880). (7 c]- 8 Vic., No. 17 and 43, and 44 Vic., No. 193.) Medical Board.—The Governor shall appoint a Boaitl, consisting of not less than three members, being of the medical profession, one of whom'shall be nominated president, together with a secretary, under the style and description of “ The South Australian Medical Board ” ; and any person desirous of being declared a legally qualified Medical Practitioner, as aforesaid, shall submit his degree, diploma, certifi- cate, or other proof, for the examination and approval of the said Medical Board, and shall obtain from the said Medical Board a certificate of his being a legally qualified Medical Practitioner, and for every such certificate there shall be paid to the presi- dent of the said Medical Board the sum of One Guinea. 1F7m) shall he deemed a Legally Qualified Medical Practitioner.—No person shall be deemed to be a legally qualified Medical Practitioner, unless such person shall have proved to the satisfaction of the majority of the members present, not being less than three of the Medical Board, that he is possessed of one of the qualifications mentioned in the following Schedule, and shall have received from the said Board a certificate of his being a legally qualified Medical Practitioner. Schedule.—1. Fellow, Member, Licentiate, or Extra-Licentiate of the Eoyal College of Physicians of London. 2. Fellow, Member, or Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. 3. Fellow or Licentiate of the King's and Queen’s Colleges of Physicians of Ireland. 4. Fellow or Member of the Royal Col- lege of Surgeons of England. 5. Fellow or Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. G. Fellow or Licentiate of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. 7. Fellow or Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. 8. Licentiate of the Society of Afjothecarics, London. 9. Licentiate of the Apothecaries’ Hall, Dublin. 10. Doctor, or Bachelor of Medicine, or Master in Surgery of any Chartered University irr Her Majesty’s dominiorrs authorised to grant degrees in metii- cine and surgery. 11. Arry qualificatiorr entitling the holder to be registered in the United Kingdom, under the Act of Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain aird Irelarrd, pa.ssed irr the 21st aird 22itd year of Her Majesty, c. 90, or any amendment thereof. 12. Any qualification which would entitle the holder to practice in all branches of medicine irr any foreign state, and also to hold medical Government appoiirtments.in such state. Itemimeration to Medical Witnes.'ies.—When any legally qualifietl Medical Practitioircr has attended aird given evidence at any inquest, inquiry, or trial, in obedience to any summons or subpoena, he shall be entitled to receive the remunerat ion of one guinea, and (in addition thereto) for the m.aking of any/iw^ mortem examina- tion, the remuneration of two guineas, and if the jilace of his residence be more than ten miles distant from the place where the inquest, inquiry, or trial is holden, then such jiractitioncr shall be entitled to a sum of one shilling for every mile of such extra distance in addition.
