![the Housing (vScotlaiul) Act, ig^o, be served on the various owners, calling upon them to remedy the defects specified in the Report. After discussion the County Sanitary In- spector was instructed in conjunction with the County Architect to prepare a list of twenty selected cases capable of repair and to submit to the Ilou.sing Sub-Committee a Report on lo of these containing proposals with relative esti- mate of cost of repair. This Report has been pre]jared by the two officials but has not yet l>een considered by tlie Hous- ing Sub-Committee In the 1930 Report mention was made of the serious sub-letting in the Special Districts of Gardens- town, Whitehills and Portgordon. A detailed Report on the Housing conditions was prepared bj' the Sanitary Inspector with a suggestion that houses should be built by the Local Authority under the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924. This Report was considered by the Landward Mem- bers of the County Council when they decided not to build houses in the Special Districts, Imt they a.greed to adopt a vSeheme of Assistance of Private Enterprise under the Hous- ing, &c., Act, 1923, whereby the Go\’'ernment subsidy of T/j.50 may be increased by an additional maximum grant of X.50, according to the size and construction of the dwelling- house. During the year tw'o dwelling-houses were erected in the village of Wdntehills, the maximum grant of /.too being approved in each case. As far as is known only one dw'elling-house was erected in the rural area of the County without the aid of a subsidy during 1932.
