![I 95 ] other root by miftake, as no fuch inftance of its bad effects had been obferved before, al¬ though it conftitutesa confiderable part of the diet of the inhabitants: one of the children died notwithftanding the exhibition of an emetic, with plentiful dilution, the ufe of demulcent anadoyne medicines, and of the .warm bath ; the other two recovered by this mode of treat- , ment. July,—Remittent fevers became more and more prevalent during the courfe of this month. The onfet of the difeafe, was, in ge¬ neral, fudden and very fevere, few patients dyooping, for any length of time, before they were confined to bed. There was great heat, naufea, and confiderable debility; the remif- fions were alfo lefs evident than in the fore¬ going month ; and the.difrreffing fymptoms, as head-ach, reftleffinefs, and oppreffion of fpirits, were more obfrinate. Rheumatic pains be¬ came lefs frequent during this month. Seve¬ ral cafes of colic occurred, which were, in general, flight.
