The Health Visitors follow up these cases ar arrange for the necessary after-care. During the year 540 visits were pa to aged persons. DOMESTIC HELP SCHEME This service continued to function as in previous years. At the end of t! year 39 Home Helps were employed. During the year 258 househol received help for the following reasons and was a decrease of 3 from f previous year:— (1) Age and infirmity 187 (2) Illness 47 (3) Confinements & Expectant Mothers 20 (4) Tuberculosis ... 2 (5) Blind Persons 2 Total 258 As is shown by the above figures, the greatest use of the sendee is ma by aged persons, principally those living alone. Gifts of flowers, fro etc., continue to be sent to some of the old folks on the occasion of th< birthdays through the bequest of Miss Duffin. This scheme brings gn pleasure to the old folks. VACCINATION AND IMMUNISATION Vaccination against Smallpox: 518 primary vaccinations were carri out during the year, being a decrease of 141 compared with the previc year. Of these 291 were carried out at the Local Authority’s Clini the remainder being done by general practitioners. As a result of a survey carried out at the end of the year it was fou that 84 per cent of City children entering school had been vaccinat against smallpox. Of all the children examined at routine medical insp< lions at City schools, 87 per cent were found to have been vaccinated. In all, 107 re-vaccinations were reported as having been carried o principally for the purpose of issuing certificates in respect of peo] proceeding abroad.
