![February 11, 1821. It was ordered that Visiting Committees should hereafter consist of two instead of three members, and the term of service of each Committee be two months instead of four. February 15,1821. An act of the Legislature exonerates from performance of military duty certain officers of the Hos- pital ; and a like exemption is provided for by the Revised Statutes, passed in 1836.. March 21, 1821. At the annual meeting, a new draft of by-laws was adopted and recorded. April 29, 1821. It was voted to discontinue meetings on Sunday ; which, however, were resumed in 1822. August 21, 1821. Notice was ordered to Drs. Jackson and Warren that the Hospital will be ready for patients od Sep- tember 1. September 3,1821. One patient was admitted; and, until September 20, not a single other application was made for admission. December 23,1821. A model of a machine, called a gout- frame, invented by Mr. Joseph Trumball [Trumbull] for the pur- pose of moving helpless people to and from bed, was presented. January 10, 1822. Six free beds were established ; three for medical, three for surgical patients. April 21,1822. The Building Committee were ordered to take measures for finishing the portico or pediment of the Hospital. September 1, 1822. A nomination of an Apothecary, as successor to Dr. Green, was made by the Physician and Sur- geon ; and they were requested to withdraw the same, and to nominate some other person,'' November 10, 1822.
