![September 15, 1844. Messrs. Andrews and Lamb were appointed a Committee, with full powers, to obtain an engrav- ing of the Asylum. It was executed accordingly. December 1, 1844. The Butler Hospital, of Khode Island, asking permission to send Dr. Bell to Europe for some months, Mr. Bowditch was requested to send an answer acceding to their request, and to make the necessary arrangements with Dr. Bell for that purpose. The compliment thus paid to Dr. Bell was truly gratifying, both to him and to this institution. On December 15 he was authorized to engage Dr. Fox to assist Dr. Booth during his absence in Europe. February 2,1845. An Annual Committee was constituted to purchase books for distribution under the Warren Fund. March 30, 1845. Hon. Edward Everett offered to the Hospital his statue of Apollo; and the Trustees presented to him their grateful acknowledgments for his beautiful gift, valuable as a memorial, that, amidst his arduous public duties in a foreign country [as Minister at the Court of St. James] Mr. Everett feels an undiminished interest in the charitable institutions of his native land. May 4, 1845. A bequest of one hundred dollars from the late William Russell was transmitted, and gratefully accepted by the Trustees. The money was invested in silver spoons for the Asylum. September 14, 1845. The Building Committee and Mr. Dexter were instructed to finish the two new wings. November 2, 1845. Mr. Goodwin having resigned his office of Superintendent of the Hospital, on account of illness, his salary was ordered to be paid to the end of six months after the close of the present quarter. A Committee were requested to obtain, if possible, portraits of Mr. [Daniel] Waldo [Donor of $40,200] and Mr. [Israel] Munson [Donor of $21,000] for this institution.
