    i te | yy eee... ee / : ¥ The Institute at present consists of four independent departments: The first department (bacteriology and research) consists of the bacteriological and experimental medicine sections. This department includes, in addition to the sections for bacteriological examinations and the testing of sera, labora- tories for medical zoology, the Wassermann test, the testing of chemico-therapeutic preparations and individual research. The second department (sera, vaccines and vaccination) includes a section for the preparation of sera and vaccines and sections for producing the vaccinal lymph, the anti- rabies vaccine, etc. To this department is attached the Sluzew Farm, where there are stables for horses in a dis- mantled Russian fort. The third department (chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacology) consists of the former Pharmaceutical Institute. The fourth department (training) consists of a School of Hygiene the organisation of which is described in Chapter II. We give below a list of the present staff of the Institute: DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE INSTITUTE: Dr. L. RAJCHMAN (at present Medical Director of the Health Section of the Secretariat of the League of Nations). 1. DEPARTMENT OF BACTERIOLOGY AND EXPERIMENTAL MEDICINE: Director and Chief of the Serological Research Section: Dr b. HAaRs2rerp. (a) Section for Bacteriological Diagnosis: Director: Dr. S. SteERAKowskKI (three assistants and auxiliary staff).
