THE favorable reception this work has met with, as is fuffciently Jliewn by the remarkable quick J ale of the firjl large im- preffnn, has induced the editor (f9 fupport the credit of what is really beneficial to the public, and add iveight to the receipts) to publiJJj the authorities from whence thofe receipts lucre taken • and to make it fill ;?;?re ufful, he has alfo added the fgns of dfeafes, and fume plain and concife direc- tions for bleeding. He begs leave to re- mark, that although Dr. 'Theobald hath in general given no more than one receipt the cure of one diforder, yet he has been careful to feleclfuch only, as, upon long ex- perience, were found to be the befl: and that although receipts are given for difeafes which are feldom cured, (as an apoplexy, confumption, &c.) yet, if it is in the power of medicine to remove any of thefe com- plaints, there is the grcattjl reafon to ima- gine, that the remedies direcled in this -volume will ejfeB a cure.
