![C'XVll Otis leeches bite anv person, the bitten parts become sivoUen and very itchy, and fainting, fe\-er, burning of the body, \-omiting, mental derangement and langour occur, in these cases the medicine called Ma- hagada should be administer- ed internally, applied exter- nally and used as snuff. The bite of the leech called Indrd- vitdha is fatal. Such is the dsscription of the poisonous leeches, and their treatment. Now the non-poisonous leeches. Their names are as follows ; Kapild, Pingald, Sankinnukht, Mushikd, Pan. darikamiikht and Sdvarikda Kapild ha\-e their sides of the colour of orpiment and their back smooth and of the colour of the pulse called in the colour of which there are lines as in blue-spar, bluestone, azure—which eften bites: thence %vill be caused abscess with fainting •. with coma and relaxing of the joints: ne\'ertheless of these \'ery leeches there is a good one which is assimilated to the colour of water : in which there will be greenness having upon it two lines like arsenic [orpi- ment] but light red,](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b24871734_0001_0139.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
