In this case the sample was obtained from a retailer and the added water amounted to 3%. Four samples were obtained from the producer of this sample at the point of delivery to the retailer and all were genuine. The retailer was cautioned. One sample was deficient in Fat to the extent of 16% but a subsequent sample from the same vendor was found to be genuine. The vendor was cautioned. One sample was 20% deficient in Fat and was followed up by another sample which proved to be genuine. The vendor was cautioned. Six out of eighteen samples of Baking Powder were deficient in Available Carbon Dioxide in varying degrees. The vendor of one sample which was found to be deficient of 30% of Available Carbon Dioxide, was prosecuted and fined 10/-. This action was taken after an informal sample was found to be deficient of 37%.
