![[Chap. 475, Acts of 1893.] AN ACT TO FROVIDE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CHARLES RIVER. Be it enacted, etc., as follows : Section 1. The hoard of metropolitan park commissioners, established under the provisions of chapter four hundred and seven of the acts of the year eighteen hundred and ninety-three, and the state board of health, sitting as a joint board, shall investigate the sanitary condition and pre- pare plans for the improvement of the beds, shores and waters of the Charles river, between Charles river bridge and the Waltham line on Charles river, and for the removal of an)’ nuisances therefrom, and report with their recommendations to the next general court on or before the first Wednesday in February. Section 2. Said commissioners may employ engineers and experts and incur such expenses as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this act, and may expend for such purpose a sum not exceeding five thousand dollars. All bills shall be approved and filed with the auditor and allowed in the same manner as other claims against the Commonwealth. Section 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage. [Approved June 10,1893. [Chap. 57, Resolves of 1894.] RESOLVE EXTENDING the time for the report of the joint board appointed TO INVESTIGATE THE SANITARY CONDITION OF THE CHARLES RIVER. Resolved, That the time allowed for the filing of the report of the joint board appointed under chapter four hundred and seventy-five of the acts of the year eighteen hundred and ninety-three, providing for the investigation of the sanitary condition of Charles river and the preparation of plans for the improvement of the beds, shores and waters of the Charles river, is hereby extended until the first Wednesday in May in the present year, but if it is not feasible for said board to make said report on or before the first Wednesday in May it is hereby authorized to report to the next general court.
