About this work

Description

This controversial sex education film (at the time) frames common sexual dysfuntion in relationships. Inge and Sten Hegeler Psychologists, authors and lecturers on sexual behaviour, authors of 'An ABZ of Love', Maj-Briht Berstrom-Walan, psychologist and sex educationalist, Sture Cullhed, gynaecologist and Medical Director, medical author and lecturer outline typical problems (they speak in English, smoking freely). The main problems which are played out in typical dramatised scenarios are 'Communication', 'Intolerance', 'Male Vanity' and 'Disparaging the man's virility'. Finally, 'No comment' shows the couples who are doing it right. The psychologists profess how far we have come in terms of coming to terms with sexuality in a more open way. Footage of couples canoodling and family groups ensue (a naked man and woman cavort in the snow). Graphics illustrate the female sexual organs, In a private and intimate studio setting a woman masturbates (medium-wdie shot) with a close-up superimposition with what is actually happening; a narrative commentary accompanies the footage. Further discussion and examples are given around having a fulfilling sexual relationship and seeking contraceptive advice (3 women are seen in a clinic setting).
