    proper while the patient is plethoric, or afflifted with fixed pains in the belly. Chalybeate waters are indicated in the fame circumfiances with fteel-medicines, and may be fciund alike beneficial. By nothing is the body more efFeftual- ly ftrengthened than by the cold-bath, which fliould, therefore, never be neg- lefted, when no particular circumftance forbids. To bathe three or four times a-week, is fufficient; and at the end of every three months the practice ought to be intermitted, for a week or ten days; a caution alfo to be adopted with regard to the ftrengthening medicines. The method of ufing the cold-bath in fummer and autumn, and the internal coroborants in the winter and fpring, is liable to exception.
