    On behalf of my wife and myself, I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude for your loving and tender care shown towards our deceased son. I feel also under the obligation of tendering to you and yours my thanks for the wonderful courtesy I received at your hands during iny unexpected visit to the Royal Albert. If it is possible, I should be obliged if you could make this letter public for the benefit of many who perhaps are unable to visit their relatives. Your Institution reflects the greatest credit on all of you ; I pray God to bless you in the midst of your task.—April 14th, 1926. A glance through the records of the Royal Albert Future Prospects, arouses feelings of gratitude for good work nobly done, mingled with thankfulness at the success with which the Institution • continues to confront the difficulties of the times, whilst a survey of its future prospects proves not less encouraging. Drastic suggestions for dealing with the mentally-deficient have been made during recent years, but the Committee note with satisfaction that such proposals have met with little acceptance, and it may be taken that they are quite outside the range of practical politics. There therefore seems to be no better alternative than to continue on the lines so successfully followed at the Royal Albert Institution ; caring for as many as possible of these unfortunate fellow-creatures, ministering to their wants, promoting their comfort and happiness, and safe¬ guarding them from evil and from the danger of perpetuating their defect; besides doing all that can be done to make the most of such abilities as they may possess, thus rendering their lives less burdensome to others and much pleasanter and more useful so far as they themselves are concerned : O yet we trust that somehow good Will be the final goal of ill, To pangs of nature, sins of will, Defects of doubt and taints of blood. With these aims in view the Central Committee renew Appeal, their earnest appeal for the continued generous support required to enable them to carry on with unabated success the splendid work recorded in the Reports issued annually by their predecessors and themselves.
