![Resolved that the following REPORT* of the Superintendent he printed and circulated. To the Committee of Visitors. Gentlemen, The late year—1858—was one of calm in the Asylum. Following one in which there had been an unusual number of Patients admitted, and in which there had been an unusual mortality without prevailing sickness, it inherited less accu¬ mulation of ill health, and a better prospect of the recovery of Patients than ordinarily. The mor¬ tality was little more than six and a half per cent on the whole number of Patients treated, and the number of Patients discharged recovered was pro¬ portionally large. The admissions were, as regards the Total number, in accordance with the average of former years. There was however a dispropor- * Rule 25—[of the General Rules of the Asylum.] The Superintendent shall submit to the Committee of Visitors, at their first Meeting after the Oxfordshire Epiphany Quarter Sessions annually, a Report in writing, of the general condition of the Asylum, and the number and character of the Patients ; distinguishing the numbers who have been received and discharged as cured ; the number of re-admissions; the number em¬ ployed, and in what manner ; the deaths which have occurred in the preceeding year, and also the total number of discharges, cures, and deaths since the opening of the Institution, and specifying the sexes in each statement; with such other facts as the Superintendent may think desirable, or which the Visitors may have suggested.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b30310854_0005.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
