No text description is available for this image![[ 5° ] alarming fymptoms, that I could impute to this caufe. My method is this: As foon as I lay the chord fufficiently bare, I take it between my finger and thumb, and cut it off about an inch from the tefticle, if no enlargement, &c. prevents me. I then let the artery go, fo as to fee, it plainly. Then, with a crooked needle, and flat waxed ligature, I take it up, with only fo much of the furrounding parts, as will fecure the ligature from flip¬ ping off. By this means, I eafily avoid the inconvenience that may attend the other method. Those, who ufe the agarick and preffure, think they fave the patient much pain by that means : And a celebrated profeflor in Paris *, who was deemed very fuccefsful in this operation, imputed it to his difpenfing with the ufe of the needle.
