The receipts from the Hospital Saving Association shew a steady increase :— 1936 1937 1938 £2,291 £2,467 £2,706 As the Hospital Saving Association is ceasing its operations outside the London Area as from 1st February, 1939, your Committee, in co-operation with other Hospitals in West Cornwall, have supported the formation of Hospitals Contributory Association (Cornwall), Ltd., which will continue the contributory scheme on similar lines, and which is being supported by the Hon. Organising Secretaries and Group Secretaries, who give their voluntary service. 8. Extensions Fund. During the past year donations amounting to £4,136 : 4 : 3 have been received. The Committee gratefully thank all contributors, and also those who have furnished bedrooms in the Nurses' Home, and those who have given the cost of Beds in the Orthopaedic Ward. 9. Linen League. The League has supplied 1,300 articles of linen, blankets, etc., to the Hospital. It has raised £213 : 1 : 9 and expended £290 : 4 : 6 in purchases. There is a credit balance of £15:5:3. The League have already provided all the linen and blankets for the new Nurses’ Home (42 rooms), and are endeavouring to equip the new wards with linen, which will cost at least £400. The committee are grateful to the members of the League for their support. The membership is now 956. 10. Almoner’s Report. Owing to the alterations necessitated through the Extensions Scheme the number of beds available had been reduced for a part of the year, and consequently In-patients admitted were below last year's figure. The full cost of the bed had been obtained from only seven patients, while twenty-nine had been unable to contri¬ bute anything towards their maintenance. Here again, as formerly, it is noticed that the majority of these come from places at a distance from Truro. Grants have been received from the D.C.L.I., R.A.S.C., and Worcestershire Regimental Associations, towards maintenance costs of ex-service men and their dependant relatives who were in poor circumstances. It was gratifying to find quite a few patients adding a small sum to their promised contribution for their maintenance as an appreciation for the treatment and care they had received in the Wards.
