There are no premises in the District which ixjrjuire registration or licen- sing under the above Act® The premises in the District v/hich carry out upholstery work only cany out repair, re-making and recondi/tioning of articles and are, therefore, exempt from registration under Section 1 (2) of the Act which is required for manufacture of nev/ goods* (xi.)_Schools There are t\i/elve village schools in use in the Rural District* Every school has a wholesome and plentiful su^yly of v'ater from the Council's malnso The schools at Bildeston and Lavonham have waterborne sanitation con- nected to the CounoiJ-’s public sewers* Sev/erage facilities were provided by the Council in 1950 to give vn.terborne sanitation to Bozford school and the Yfest Suffolk County Council, has in 1957ii been able to have this vrarl; commenoodo Houses The co-operation of the Breueiy Companies in bringing their licenced prem- ised up to the standard necessary to comply ydth the Pood Hygiene Regulations 1955} continued during the year* A steady prograirame of modemisation proceeded duri.ng the year and it is pleasing to report that major imprevo- ments to the sanitary arrangements v\/ere carried out at the follovong licen- ced houses;- Cock Inn, Br-ont Eloigh, Pox and Hounds, Croton, Sv>an Inn, Boxford, Compasses Inn, Boxford, liVhite Hart lun, Boxford, Bull Inn, Monks Eleigh, and the Red Rose Inn Lindsej^, Every public house in the district is connected to the Council’s water main and the licensees generally keep their houses in a very good standard of cleanliness® Very few of the houses v/ithin the District cater for meals^ The licence of tho Bakers Arras, Boxford was allowed to lapse end the premises were converted to a private dwelling house, during 1957* - 13 -](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b29124049_0027.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
