appeal's to me to Tbe probable that not only tbe glomerular vessels wlien in a state of amyloid degeneration, but that tbe epithelium and tbe interstitial vascular system as well, when similarly affected, are involved in tbe excretion of albumen. Wben examining kidneys in a state of amyloid degeneration I have repeatedly noticed a marked deposit of albumen in tbe tubuli uriniferi, especially of tbe cortex, with but very little excretion in tbe capsules. Posner also incidentally alludes to tbe same appearances (102). It is, moreover, a well-ascertained fact tbat pure amyloid degene- ration rarely occurs alone, but is far more often associated with interstitial nephritis; tbe urinary secretion, in sucb cases, exhibiting corresponding alterations.
