    as I tavo frequently witnessed^ scarcely reckon any deviation from the healthy state. To avoid overlooking, not one, but many, of these (enlarged?) glands often requires very minute attention. The other objections I shall leave to be answered by the facts about to be adduced, only remarking that the removal by absorption of the morbid matter from the follicles is a very rare termination, even in typhoid fever. Chomel mentions two cases in which that process had probably taken place,^ and I cannot see why it should be more common and more speedy in typhus.
