The above numbers added togetber give 314 cases, 273 in women, and 41 in men, a proportion wbicli may be taken as nearly representing the truth, although in this total certain cases are counted more than once. This proportion would turn out still more in favour of the women if we were to include in the above collection tho data of authors whoso practice lies exclusively
