A trade card for Merchant's Gargling Oil Liniment with a colour lithograph by Gies & Co. showing a woman sitting in a red armchair while a man leans over and whispers in her ear. The reverse has a list of ailments that Merchant's Gargling Oil Liniment is supposed to be good for, and an advertisement for C. M. Boynton of Concord, New Hampshire, wholesale and retail dealer in dry goods.
