In accordance with the regulations of the Central Midwives’ Board, Medical Aid was summoned in 239 cases, 204 for the Mother, and 35 for the Child. NOTIFICATION OF BIRTHS. A total of 989 births were registered during the year {948 live and 48 stillbirths), and were notified as follows :— Notified by Doctors ... ... ... 20 Notified by Midwives ... ... 616 Notified by Others ... ... ... 353 4 births were not notified, but immediately on the requirements of the Notification of Births Act being brought to the notice of the persons concerned, these were officially intimated. STILLBIRTHS. The figure of stillbirths registered for this Borough, as given by the Registrar-General, for the year, was 51. Included in this number are 7 illegitimate stillbirths. PUERPERAL PYREXIA. 10 cases were notified during the year, all of which were admitted to Hospital. Of the total cases notified :— 5 were attended at birth by Mid wives. 5 „ ,, ,, Doctors. 6 cases attended Ante-Natal Clinics. POST-NATAL CLINICS. As mentioned in previous Annual Reports, no great number of cases attend the special Post-Natal Clinics held at the Public Health Depart¬ ment daily, patients preferring to attend the Child Welfare Clinics held three times per week, during the afternoon, when they attend with their children.
