    PREFACE TO THE AMERICAN EDITION. It liad been the intention of the American Editor to liavè pub- lished a work on Infantile Syphilis, bnt professional and otlier en- gagements made it impossible for him to devote tlie necessary time to the accomplishment of this plan. Pie, therefore, with tlie consent of tlie publiskers, Messrs. William Wood & Co., of tliis city, decided to annotate tlie work publislied by M. Diday, of Lyons, adding sucli material as was necessary to brin g tlie work up to our présent knowl- edge of tlie subject.
