About this work

Description

Sheet of three designs of advertising 'stamps' or stickers intended to be stuck on envelopes, thereby promoting awareness of St. Dunstan's homes for rehabilitation of armed forces personnel who have lost their sight in the service of their country. The sheet may have been sold to raise funds for the organization. This one is incomplete and only has 16 stamps. The three designs show one of a knight in armour on horseback, riding through woodland with a banner (on which St. Dunstan's is written) in his left hand, a second one of a victorious knight in armour (St. George?) standing over the body of a fallen dragon, raising his sword in his right hand and a banner in his left on which St. Dunstan's is written and the third of a mounted knight on top of a hill with mountains behind, holding the same banner. All are printed in dark blue on white paper.
