Co Crick c/o The Biological Laboratories Harvard University Cambridge 38, Massachusetts Dear Doctor Crick: I am terribly sorry about the mix-up of our dinner appointment« Here is what happened. On Friday, March 9th, I received your letter indicating that you would be able to have dinner with us on the evening of April 10th. The following Monday, March 12, however, I got another letter from you asking me to check with Dr. Greenberg of Mount Zion about a Monday lunch date. Since you had an airtight schedule on that day I wrote you again that both lunch and dinner were out of the question. Tod,ay after Dr. Morales told me about the confusion last night I went back to check my file. To my horror I found that your second letter was dated March 6th, whereas the first one was actually written on March 8th. Why there was this mix-up in delivery I will never know, but the major blame is on^ me. I certainly should have read carefully the dates of the letters; otherwise this would not have happend.
