Notes

"From Volume XLV of the 'Medico-chirurgical transactions,' published by the Royal Medical and Chirurgical Society of London"--t.p
Includes quoted letters from other authors: G.P. May, H.H. Carwardine, and W. Munk
Contains biographic information on the Chamberlens, including a discussion of the distinction between the two Hughs. The elder was the son of Peter, and was a translator of Mauriceau. His son, the younger Hugh, was a member of the RCP. The entry for the latter in Munk's Roll confused the two; Munk's own contribution to the present tract shows that he realized this, but no amendment was made to the 2nd ed. of 1878 (v. 1, p. 504-7)--On both, see DNB.
