Excepting fome attacks of the gout, in general he enjoyed perfect health and great equality of fpirits j bearing thofe trials which are incident to man with fortitude and refig- nation. In fuch a courfe he arrived at his 75th year j when being on a vifit to Lord Petre in EiTex, for whom he had a lingular regard, he was feized with a total fuppreffion of urine, which baffling every attempt to relieve it, proved fatal on the nth of Auguft, 1768, and deprived his family, his friends, and country of a man devoted to their intereft and advantage.
