![Lor 122—continued. pITION. It is well known for its fine woodcuts, and is the earliest German Antisemite publication and the first grammar printed with Hebrew type in Germany. This copy agrees exactly with Hain* 11886, but differs in collation and in the prefatory matter from the B.M. copy (B.M. Catalogue of Books Printed in the XV Century II, p. 516). 123 . These elaborate illustrations are the product of the mediaeval imagination at its most extravagant and entirely untouched by the shghtest human- istic influence. The book was probably printed for presentation only at the expense of the Emperor Frederick III and his successor Maximilian whose portraits appear in many of the borders. s— ' 124 Pronemy. Ulm, Johan Reger, 21 July, 1486 ** A FINE COPY OF THIS SPLENDID EARLY ATLAS. The maps and woodcut initials have been lightly and very neatly coloured by a contemporary hand which much enhances their effect, particularly in the case of the World map. There are MS. titles to the maps in red in a large and handsome Gothic hand. The B.M. copy differs in the arrangement of the parts from that described by Hain, and the copy now offered varies from both.
