    DUTIES OF WATCHMEN AND WATCH- WOMEN. The watchmen will commence their rounds at half-past nine o'clock, at which hour they will call at the physician's office for directions for the night. The outdoor watch -will keep moving during the night, and give special attention to safety from fire, and to such points as may be indicated. The indoor watch will keep moving about from ward to ward, during the entire night, and will visit every part of the house at least every hour. They will know that all emp]o_yed are in their rooms at the prescribed hour, and, if they have a doubt on the subject, it is their duty to ascertain the fact by opening the individual's chamber door. They must be kind, gentle, and soothing in their manners to the patients, and take every means in their power to tranquillize those that are excited, and to allay the fears and apprehensions of the timid. They will see that they a-re promptly sup- plied with water when it is asked for, and that all their little reasonable wants are attended to. They will be careful to make as little noise as possible in moving about, in opening and shutting doors, and always speak to patients in a low tone of voice.
