What- ever accidents occur in this period, muft continue without the poffibility of relief. Thus a fmall portion of the pulpy fub- jftance of the cataradt, which fometimes remains within the eye, by getting be- tween the divided edges of the cornea, obftrudt its re-union, render it opaque, and not unfrequently produce inflamma- tion on the iris itfelf, which, contradling, entirely defeats the intention of the ope- ration.
