Tinctura Rliei Aromatica. U.S.P. Rhubarb 20, cassia bark 4, cloves 4, nutmeg 2, glycerin 10, alcohol (94 per cent.) q. s., water q. p., diluted alcohol (49 per cent.) q. s. Mix the solid ingredients and reduce to 'No. 40 powder. Mix the glycerin with alcohol 50 and water 40 fl. pts. Then proceed as in Tinct. RJiei. U.S.P. Tinctura Uliei Composita. B.P. Rhubarb root in No. 20 powder 2, cardainom seed J, coriander fruit i, glycerin 2 fl. ptjs., alcohol (60 per cent.) q. s. Moisten crushed solid ingredients with 2 fl. pts. of alcohol, then percolate to 18 fl. pts. Agitate, set aside 48 hours, filter, and add glycerin. Dose, ^ to 1 fl. dr. for repeated dose; single dose, 2 to 4 fl. drs. Tinctura Rhei Bulcis. U.S.P. Rhubarb ]0, licorice root 4, anise 4, cardamom 1, glycerin 10 fl. pts., alcohol (94 per cent.) q. s., water q. s., diluted alcohol q. s. Mix solid ingredients, reduce to No. 40 powder. Mix the glycerin with water 40 fl. pts. Proceed as with Tinct. nhei. U.S.P. Tinctura Rhei et Gentianse. N.P. Rhubarb 7, gentian If, diluted alcohol (49 per cent.) to produce 100 fl. pts. Reduce the roots to No. 40 powder, and percolate up to 100 fl. pts. Each fl. dr. = 4 grains rhubarb and gentian. Tinctura Biliei Spirituosa. A. Rhubarb root 12, gen- tian root 4, serpentary 1, dilute alcohol (68 per cent.) 200. Macerate 7 days, strain, press, and filter. Tinctura Rhei Vinosa. N.F. Fluid extract of rhubarb 8 fl. pts., fluid extract of bitter orange 2 fl. pts., tincture of cardamoms (U.S.P.) 8 fl. pts., sugar 12|, sherry to produce 100 fl. pts. Mix the fluids with wine 50, dissolve sugar in this by agitation, then add enough wine to make up to 100 fl. pts. Ph.G. Rhubarb root incised 8, orange peel 2, carda- moms crushed 1, sherry 100. Macerate 7 days, strain, press, and filter; then add to the filtrate one seventh its weight of sugar. Tinctura Sanguinaria. U.S.P. Sanguinaria in No. 60 powder 15, acetic acid 2, alcohol (94 per cent.) q,s., water q. s. Mix alcohol 6 volumes and water 4 volumes.
