This is a detailed round up of the alterations at the Retreat in these years: the engine house, laundry, drainage, new lavatory block and centre lavatory, ladies' inner garden, estate walk, external alterations, Gainsborough House, cricket ground, entrance hall, West Villa, centre sitting rooms, engineers' basement, 4th Gallery, 3rd Gallery, Belle Vue, coal house, locks, greenhouses and forcing frames. There are notes on what was done in all these instances, including extracts from the annual reports. The pages constituted a notebook but it has had its binding removed.
