Nothing was said about the Heart untill Dr. Shortt ordered the body to be sewed up, when Count Montholon came to me and pressed so exceedingly hard about it, that I was obliged to consent to its being put in a vessel and left under the particular charge, in the same room with the corpse, of Dr. Rutledge. Count Montholon pledged his word of honor in a most distinct manner, that nothing should be done with it untill you had decided about it. He made no objection to Dr. Rutledge remaining with it. Major Emmett says the vault cannot be ready until Monday morning. ete.
