This date, which is usually given in the Muslim Hijrl calendar in the manuscript, in the entry is preceded by the letters A.H. When it is given in the Indian Vikrama samvat in the manuscript, in the entry it is preceded by the letters M.S. In the case of the Hijrl dates, the Western equivalent is provided in square brackets, preceded by the letters A.D., e.g. A.H.1214/ [A.D. 1799]. For dates in the Vikrama samvat both the Hijri and the Western equivalents are given in square brackets, eg. V.S. 1894/ [A.H. 1253/A.D. 1837]. An estimated date in the Hijrl and Western calendars, enclosed in round brackets, is provided for undated manuscripts, e.g. undated (A.H. 12/A.D. 18th cent.). The above nine items are followed by the name of the copyist, the place of copying, and a record of the seals, notes of endowment, notes of ownership or any other significant notes found in the manuscript. Here are also recorded additions, omissions or any other variations that the copy in question may exhibit in comparison to other copies described elsewhere. 10. the last items in this area are the incipits and the explicits of the texts, which are given in the vernacular.
